This curated 3-day travel blog itinerary balances iconic sights, hidden gems, incredible food, and much-needed moments of relaxation.
Where to Stay: The Riad Experience
For the ultimate Marrakech experience, skip the modern chain hotels and book a traditional Riad hidden inside the walls of the Old Medina. These are private homes turned boutique hotels built around a central open-air courtyard. Staying in a Riad gives you a quiet sanctuary just steps away from the bustling chaos of the markets.

Start at Souk Semmarine (textiles) and wind your way through lanes dedicated to spices (Souk el-Attarine), leather goods (Souk Cherratine), and gleaming metal lanterns (Souk Haddadine). Don’t be afraid to haggle if you plan on shopping! Marrakech Tailor Made Tours+ 2

Visit a spa or your riad’s steam bath for a full body scrub using savon noir (black eucalyptus soap), an exfoliating kessa mitt, and a relaxing clay mask to leave your skin glowing. Quick Travel Tips for Marrakech
- Cash is King: Always carry Moroccan Dirhams (MAD) in small denominations (10, 20, and 50 notes). Many small riad shops, street vendors, and taxis do not accept cards.
- Navigating: Download an offline map app (like Google Maps or Maps.me) before you arrive. Phone GPS can act a bit quirky inside the narrow, high-walled alleys of the Medina. ET Food Voyage
- Ignore “Helpful” Strangers: If someone in the souks tells you “that way is closed” or tries to guide you to a tannery/square, politely say no (“La, shukran”) and keep walking. They will often demand a heavy tip for unwanted directions. Stick to your offline map!
